A late winner from Harry Kane gave England a 2-1 win over Croatia in their UEFA Nations League clash at Wembley on Sunday, sending Gareth Southgate’s side through to next summer’s play-offs.
Kane has made no secret of his desire to surpass Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time leading goalscorer and Sunday’s strike was his 20th in 35 appearances for his country.
After a slow start to the season, the Tottenham striker has stepped up a gear in recent months and is well on target for another bumper goals tally. He has scored eight goals in his last 10 matches for Spurs and now has 11 in all competitions for club and country since winning the Golden Boot at the World Cup in Russia.
Six of his goals have come in the Premier League and he sits only two behind Sergio Aguero at the top of the scoring charts, with Eden Hazard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang each on seven.
It’s set to be a fascinating race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot, which Kane collected in both 2016 and 2017. He’s currently second in the betting, at best odds of 10/3* with Bet365 and William Hill.
Aguero tops the betting at 5/2* with Paddy Power, with Mo Salah lurking at 6/1* with BetVictor. The Egyptian has yet to hit his stride but has still managed six goals to sit level with team-mate Sadio Mane, Raheem Sterling, Anthony Martial, Richarlison and Glenn Murray.
