Liverpool are the 11/1 seventh favourites with William Hill to win the 2018/19 Uefa Champions League after suffering defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in their eighth final in Kiev on Saturday night. A wonder strike from Gareth Bale, together with two goalkeeping errors from Lorus Karius, condemned Jurgen Klopp’s side to their third loss in a European Cup final, as Real lifted the trophy for the fourth time in five years and a record 13th in all.
Liverpool had given a good account of themselves in the first half and looked threatening on the break until the departure of leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah, who suffered a shoulder injury that could threaten his participation in the upcoming World Cup. By illuminating the group stage with their goalscoring exploits, and with the comfortable margin of their victory over Premier League champions Manchester City, Liverpool have proved themselves to be a force once again, although Klopp will be eager to see them become more consistent in the league next season. City are the odds-on favourites to retain the title they won so emphatically, but the Reds are second in the betting at 5/1 with Betfred and BetVictor.
