Manchester City remain the favourites to win the Premier League title, but Liverpool are in to a best price of 6/5* with Paddy Power after opening up a four-point lead at Xmas.
Andros Townsend’s stunning volley for Crystal Palace sparked a rare home defeat for City on Saturday, after they had seen Liverpool stretch their lead with a ruthless 2-0 win at Wolves on Friday night.
The last four teams to top the table on December 25th have gone on to win the league, with Liverpool the last club to fail to do so when City pipped them to the title in 2014.
Despite the close attentions of Tottenham, Liverpool and City appear certain to go head-to-head again this season, with Pep Guardiola’s side now out to 5/6 at Betfred, the biggest price they have been since the season began.
City have games at Leicester and Southampton to negotiate before they receive a visit from Liverpool on January 3rd. Liverpool are at home to Newcastle on Boxing Day before Arsenal visit Anfield on Saturday evening.
