Venue

The second edition of the Made In Denmark event takes place once again at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in the northern town of Farso. The 7,033-yard Backtee Course was re-opened in 2012 after a complete redesign. The par 71 layout features exposed, wide open spaces and is frequently windswept, although the forecast is for clear, sunny days with light winds. There are undulating fairways, a handful of water hazards and the testing uphill par three 16th, the highlight of the round. The defending champion is Marc Warren, who won the inaugural event by two shots with a nine-under par total.

Favourites

Warren is 14th on the Race to Dubai and has enjoyed some good moments this season, although he has so far been unable to add to his tally of victories. He was well clear of the bulk of the field last year and is a single-figure favourite with several firms and a best price of 10/1 with Bet365, Ladbrokes and Coral. Home favourite Thomas Bjorn was fourth here last year and will be well fancied to go close again at best odds of 20/1 with Stan James and Ladbrokes, while others near the top of the market include Soren Kjeldsen, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Kristoffer Broberg.

Tips

BRADLEY DREDGEWe have mentioned BRADLEY DREDGE a few times lately and he has produced some solid performances. He began last month’s Omega European Masters in fine form before a poor round on the Saturday put him out of contention, but he finished this event as runner-up 12 months ago just two shots off the pace and as Warren’s only genuine challenger. Ladbrokes’ clear top price of 50/1 certainly appeals as an each-way selection.

Soren KjeldsenSOREN KJELDSEN has enjoyed a return to form this season and scored a fine victory at the Irish Open. Poor performances at the Open and US PGA shouldn’t detract from the fact that he has been competitive at several European Tour events and he was just outside the top 10 at the recent WGC Bridgestone Invitational. He did well at Himmerland last year, finishing in a share of 15th and is worth a win only bet at 18/1 with Coral.

Rikard KarlbergRecent top 10 finishes at the Scottish Open and the European Masters hint at a possible challenge from RIKARD KARLBERG this week and the Swede should be right at home in these conditions. He hasn’t had the best of years but his form is much improved and this isn’t the strongest of fields. One of only 14 players to shoot an under-par total here last year, he shared ninth place and is 40/1 with both Bet365 and Coral.
