Manchester City have been cut from 7/5 to best price 5/4 at Bet365 in the Premier League betting after their 5-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime was followed by neighbours United dropping points for the first time this season.
It’s the shortest price the ante-post favourites have been in the outright betting, although it would be wrong to read too much into their margin of victory over Liverpool, who looked threatening until Sadio Mane’s dismissal after 37 minutes.
United, who could only draw 2-2 at Stoke later in the day, are out to 11/4 with Betfred after conceding their first goals of the campaign. Chelsea’s third successive win puts them just a point behind the leaders and they have been trimmed to 5/1 with BetVictor to retain their title, with Tottenham the 12/1 fourth favourites after they hit top gear for the first time in their 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park. Liverpool are at 16s with Paddy Power, while Arsenal are now at 25/1 (from 28/1) with Betfred after easing past Bournemouth.
6/4 Brighton head bunched relegation betting
The Premier League relegation market has a cluster of clubs at short prices after a fascinating first four rounds of matches has seen Huddersfield and Burnley start well – while Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have suffered four straight defeats.
Huddersfield were the 4/6 favourites for the drop back at the start of August, but Brighton are now at the top of the market at 6/4 with Bet365 following their convincing win over West Brom on Saturday. Palace, who gave their best performance to date in an unfortunate 1-0 loss at Turf Moor, are 13/8 with the same firm, while Huddersfield are 9/5 with Paddy Power ahead of their trip to West Ham.
Bet365 are offering Swansea at 2/1, Betfred have Bournemouth at the same price and Burnley are at 9/4 with BetVictor. The big movers in this market are Watford, whose impressive start has seen them pushed out from 7/4 to 11/2 with BetVictor.
