Bristol City already have four Premier League scalps on their run to the Carobao Cup semi-finals – beating Watford, Stoke, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
But they now face the daunting task of trying to leave the Etihad Stadium with something still to play for in the second leg at Ashton Gate later this month.
The Robins are currently fourth in the Championship, but have lost their last two league games – including a 5-0 thumping at Villa Park on New Year’s Day.
They were also beaten 3-0 by Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday, albeit with a much weakened side – with Lee Johnson’s focus on their first major semi-final in 28 years.
Of course, much will depend upon the side Pep Guardiola decides to field, but all indications are that he intends to play a strong line-up, with the likes of De Bruyne, Sterling and Sane all likely to start this first leg on Tuesday.
It’s perhaps worth remembering that Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 0-0 draw here by another Championship side, Wolves, in the fourth round, only progressing on penalties despite also fielding a strong side that night back in October.
But try as we might, we really can’t see anything other than a convincing home win on Tuesday – so we suggest backing both the 4-0 and 5-0 Correct Scores at best odds of 8/1 and 12/1 respectively at William Hill.
Raheem Sterling is the third highest goal scorer in the Premier League this season – back him ‘To Score 2 or More’ at 7/2 and ‘To Score a Hat-trick’ at 16/1 with Betfred.
