Stoke are 2/1 across the board to be relegated as they begin their search for a new manager, following the sacking of Mark Hughes in the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s FA Cup third round defeat against League Two Coventry.
A run of only two wins in 12 Premier League matches which had seen the club drop into the relegation zone on goal difference had cast doubt on Hughes’ future at the Bet365 Stadium, although he received the qualified backing of the board after crisis talks last week.
However, the poor performance of his side at the Ricoh Arena proved to be the final straw and the Potters must now appoint just their fourth different manager in the last 15 years. The next challenge for Stoke is a trip to Old Trafford next Monday, before a run of games against teams who will be battling alongside them for their top flight futures – Huddersfield, Watford, Bournemouth and Brighton.
