Europe can look forward to a Ryder Cup with a major champion in their ranks after our 33/1 pre-tournament tip Francesco Molinari won The Open at Carnoustie.
The Italian produced a faultless round on Sunday to emerge from a crowded leaderboard and win by two shots, with an eight-under par total. It continues an incredible run of form for Molinari, as he picked up his third win in six starts to follow on from victories at the BMW PGA Championship and Quicken Loans National.
He has also finished as runner-up twice during that blistering sequence and with just three weeks to go until the final major of 2018 his odds have been cut across the board for the US PGA Championship at the Bellerive Country Club in Missouri. From 80/1 with Ladbrokes prior to The Open, Molinari has been cut to a best price of 33/1* with BetVictor.
Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth lead the betting, with each man available at odds of 12/1* with Bet365. Justin Thomas will be the defending champion, with the others two major titles currently held by his fellow Americans Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka.
