Michael Van Gerwen has shortened up from 8/11 to 8/13 with William Hill and Paddy Power to win his third PDC World Darts title when the championship resumes at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday. The defending champion thrashed Justin Wilson 4-0 to reach the last 16, where he will meet Gerwyn Price.
Gary Anderson also eased through his second round match, beating Paul Lim 4-1, and the double world champion is the 11/2 second favourite with tournamant sponsors Hills ahead of his last 16 meeting with Steve West. Phil Taylor’s bid to bring down the curtain on his career with a 17th world title continued with a 4-0 demolition of Justin Pipe and The Power is now a best price of 10/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral, having been available at 12s prior to the tournament. Taylor will face Keegan Brown – who was just three years old when Taylor won his first world title – in the third round on Thursday.
