Rafael Nadal is the 6/1 second favourite with Betfred to win the Wimbledon title after claiming his 11th victory at the French Open on Sunday. Nadal beat Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in the final at Roland Garros to earn his 17th Grand Slam title and extend his remarkable winning record on clay.
Thiem had been the only player to defeat the Spaniard on his preferred surface in both 2017 and 2018, but he was no match for Nadal on Sunday, who edged a tight first set before taking a firm grip of the match. His latest success leaves Nadal three Grand Slam titles short of Roger Federer’s record of 20 and it is the Swiss star who remains the man to beat in London next month, despite his decision to take the clay court season off.
Federer is a best price of 13/8 with Paddy Power to win his ninth title at the All England Club, having set a new record when he won the final on Centre Court for the 8th time last year. Nadal has won Wimbledon twice, in 2008 and 2010, but has not been beyond the 4th round since losing in the final to Novak Djokovic in 2011.
