Pressure Increases On Wenger & Conte

This week’s sports pages are likely to be full of speculation surrounding the future of two prominent Premier League managers after defeats for Arsenal and Chelsea on Sunday, with Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte both being tipped to leave their jobs in the summer.

Arsenal could have been forgiven for their consecutive losses against Manchester City had they come up with a response at Brighton, but a woeful first half display only deepened the gloom for a team now destined for another year in the Europa League, unless they can win this season’s competition, for which they are now 13/2 shots with Bet365.

Once again the Gunners fans turned on Wenger, who appears to have run of out ways to lift his dejected players.

Conte’s discontent at Stamford Bridge has been obvious for several months and it has slowly transmitted itself to the players. At the Etihad Stadium, with his ultra defensive tactics and baseball cap, Conte cast himself as the Italian Tony Pulis and he’ll need to do much better than that if he is to turn things around and steer the Blues back into the top four.

London derbies against Crystal Palace, Tottenham and West Ham are next on the agenda for Chelsea, who have slipped five points behind Spurs. As a result they are out to 9/4 with William Hill to finish in the top four.
