With the fifth round of Champions League group matches approaching, the established elite have been usurped at the top of the betting, with Paris St Germain now the favourites to win this season’s competition and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City second in the market.
Both clubs have already qualified for the knockout stages and could clinch top spot this week, if results go their way.
PSG shortened to 7/1 in the ante-post betting after signing Neymar from Barcelona and they are now just 7/2 for a second European success, to add to the Cup Winners’ Cup they won in 1996. They have won all four group games, scoring 17 goals without conceding – and with Neymar scoring a goal in each game.
City, who are a best price of 5/1 with William Hill, will be eager to secure first place in their group with a win over Feyenoord on Tuesday, as their final group match at Shakhtar Donetsk falls just a few days before the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
They have won each of their last 16 matches in all competitions – an English record.
