Quicken Loans National 2017 Betting Preview

David Lingmerth (ew)Tournament Winner33/1Sky Bet
Russell Henley (ew)Tournament Winner40/1Coral
Kevin Streelman (ew)Tournament Winner66/1Stan James

The Quicken Loans National 2017 will take place at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm – the former home of the Booz Allen Classic, a PGA Tour event which ran until 2006 and was won in its closing years by Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia. After criticism of severe drainage issues and the poor quality of some of its design, the 7,100 yard course has been extensively remodelled. A new irrigation system means the course is no longer prone to becoming waterlogged & every bunker has been redesigned.

Rickie Fowler has finished sixth or better at half of his last 14 events and the world number 9 is the market leader for this one, at best odds of 8/1 with Coral, who are offering 7 places for each-way bets. Justin Thomas reacted badly to his US Open meltdown, missing the cut at the Travelers Championship, but he’s a three-time winner this season and is the second favourite this week at 14/1 with Stan James, while Patrick Reed is the same price with Paddy Power, who also offer 7 places.

David_LingmerthWith the switch to a new venue there’s not too much evidence of previous course form to go on this week, but DAVID LINGMERTH shot three rounds of 66 on his way to a Tour win here in 2012 and looks like one to follow at 33/1 with Sky Bet. The Swede’s last four results read 12-15-21-26, which suggests he’s doing most things right, and his game looked in good shape at the recent US Open. Alternatively, take 30/1 at Paddy Power with those 7 places.

russell-henleyDespite a couple of recent missed cuts RUSSELL HENLEY caught the eye earlier this season – winning the Shell Houston Open in April by three shots, then finishing in 11th place at The Masters the following weekend. More recently he finished 27th at the US Open despite a final round of 79 and the world no. 55 is back in action after a week off. You can back him each-way at best price 40/1 with Coral – again with those 7 places for this tournament.

Kevin-Streelman-OddsKEVIN STREELMAN is enjoying something of a purple patch – and he looks a great each-way chance this week at a stand-out price of 66/1 with Stan James (as short as 40/1 elsewhere). The 38-year-old’s last 3 results have shown an upward trajectory – finishing 18th, 13th and most recently eighth at the Travelers Championship last week, which included a final round of 64, and he can get in the mix if he can continue in the same vein.
