Jon Rahm showed just why he was the 15/4 favourite for the Open de Espana, winning his home tournament by a 2-shot margin on Sunday.
The world number four made the most of his knowledge of the Centre Nacional de Golf course – he studied there for two years before switching to university in the United States – putting together rounds of 67, 68, 66 and 67 in wet and windy conditions near the Spanish capital to see off the challenge of Ireland’s Paul Dunne.
It was a second win of the season for Rahm and a third in his last 10 starts, and it followed on from his impressive performance at The Masters, where he finished fourth. Despite his excellent form, he is ninth in Bet365‘s list for the Open Championship, at 22/1, while BetVictor are offering seven players at shorter prices for the upcoming US Open, for which Rahm is a 20/1 chance.
Dunne has also been catching the eye of late, his second place in Madrid was his third consecutive top 10 and he’s now a 125/1 shot with Ladbrokes for the US Open.
