After blowing the Scottish Premier title race wide open with their 1-0 Old Firm win last week, Rangers have moved to strengthen their challenge with the signing of Jermain Defoe on loan from Bournemouth.
The 36-year-old, who won 57 caps for England, has enjoyed a prolific career and will surely find football north of the border to his liking.
He will compete for a starting berth with the club’s top scorer Alfredo Morelos and back-up striker Kyle Lafferty and should see plenty of action between now and May.
Morelos’ habit of picking up suspensions is another reason why Rangers boss Steven Gerrard felt the need to bring in experienced cover – the Colombian has picked up 13 yellow cards and three red cards in 35 appearances this season.
His unreliable temperament is the strongest reason to consider Odsonne Edouard a serious runner in the Premiership’s Top Goalscorer betting.
Edouard has been limited to 13 starts so far this season for Celtic, but has contributed nine goals, putting him three behind Morelos.
Bet365 quote him at 7/2* to end the season as the division’s top marksman. Celtic, who have a game in hand on their rivals, remain the firm favourites to win the title at 2/9* with Betfred, with Rangers available at 7/2 with Bet365.
