Ronnie O’Sullivan is a best price of 7/2* with Betfred to win next year’s Snooker World Championship after beating Mark Allen to claim a record seventh UK Championship title in York on Sunday.
O’Sullivan breezed past Allen 10-6 at the York Barbican, claiming for the second year running a title he first won back in 1993.
The 42-year-old has won the world title five times, with the last of them being his second successive victory in 2013. However, he hasn’t reached the final at The Crucible since 2014 and he has gone out in the second round in two of the last three years.
Nevertheless, it remains clear that The Rocket is the sport’s leading player, even if he does not compete regularly enough to top the world rankings.
Three-time winner Mark Selby is the second favourite at 5/1* with most firms, while defending champion Mark Williams can be backed at odds of 14/1* with Bet365, BetVictor and Paddy Power to win once again in Sheffield.
