Southampton have been cut to a best price of 5/1* with Bet365 in the Premier League relegation betting after suffering back-to-back home defeats over the Christmas period.
The Saints, who were as big as 11/1 after they won successive games following the appointment of Ralph Hasenhuttl to replace Mark Hughes, have been dragged back into trouble after losing to both West Ham and Man City in front of their own supporters.
Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to City came at the same time as Burnley were beating the Hammers at Turf Moor and followed on from wins for both Cardiff and Fulham on Saturday.
While Huddersfield have been cast adrift following a run of seven straight defeats, Fulham are now just a point behind Southampton, with Burnley beneath them only on goal difference.
The Clarets visit Huddersfield on New Year’s Day, while Fulham go to Arsenal and Southampton take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
