Saturday Horse Racing Tips

It’s all about the jumpers on ITV this afternoon, with the action coming from Wetherby and Ascot.

bet365 Charlie Hall Chase

It is arguably Wetherby’s biggest day of the year as the Yorkshire track stages the Charlie Hall Chase. The ground means there are only four runners, but there is hardly anything to separate them in the market and each has a good chance of lifting this valuable Grade 2.

The one we like most is DOUBLE SHUFFLE, as this is definitely his ground. He was second in the King George last season and deserves to win a race of this quality.

olbg Mares’ Hurdle

The other horse to back at the northern track is OSCAR ROSE in the Mares’ Listed Hurdle.

She scooted up on her re-appearance and looks ready to fulfil the potential she showed last season for Fergal O’Brien’s yard, which is really starting to hit top gear.

Ascot Underwriting Chase

A Novices’ Limited Handicap kicks off the televised action at Ascot and the value here may lie with LARRY. He is yet to run over fences, and won his last two races last season on very soft ground, but he is bred to be a chaser and to appreciate this quicker surface.

Bet With Ascot Handicap Hurdle

The two most competitive races on the card are the handicaps at 3.00pm and 3.35pm.

The hurdlers are up first and top weight Global Citizen looks the one to beat for the in-form Ben Pauling. He was hugely impressive on his penultimate start at Kempton, but will have to be at his best to beat the race fit SIMPLY THE BETTS, giving that rival over a stone, so he is narrowly preferred.

Sodexo Gold Cup Handicap Chase

Last week a Rebecca Curtis runner did us a big favour by taking a big handicap chase at Cheltenham and we think GEORDIE DES CHAMPS can repeat the dose here.

Curtis’ horses weren’t right last year, but they seem to be back now and this horse’s best form over hurdles was on this sort of ground.
