Saturday Horse Racing Tips

The racing on ITV this afternoon isn’t of the greatest quality, and it is always a quiet time of year as the flat season starts to get going and the jumps season is in limbo between Cheltenham and Aintree.

The jumpers go at Haydock, where there are a series of challenger series finals.

Middle Distance Chase Series Final Handicap Chase

First up is the middle distance final, which can hopefully go the way of TWENTY EIGHT GUNS after the overnight rain. This mare loves a slog in the mud and her yard is in good form at the moment. She’d be a lot shorter price but for a disappointing effort last time out.

Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Final Handicap Hurdle

The softening of the ground will also suit SLEEPY HAVEN in the two mile hurdle final. Jennie Candish’s yard is another in flying form currently, and this course and distance winner often runs well here. First time blinkers could be the missing link and he is back to the mark he last won off in 2016.

Challenger Staying Chase Series Final Handicap Chase

The potential big improver in the staying chase final is Behind Time, but he is priced accordingly and a better value option could be DELUSIONOFGRANDEUR, who seemed not to stay the four mile trip last time out.

At the foot of the weights, ABRACADABRA SIVOLA looks a big danger now he has recaptured his form. He has won off higher marks in the past.

Queen’s Cup Handicap

It’s Queen’s Cup day at Musselburgh on the level and the soft ground will turn the race into a real stamina test. That should suit NIGHT OF GLORY, who won on heavy ground over hurdles recently. He is race fit and gets in at the foot of the weights.

Just above him in the handicap is MIRSAALE, who has also been in good form over hurdles recently. He has won on soft ground on the flat before and Keith Dalgleish is one of the best up and coming trainers in the north. His stablemate, Mixboy, is another to consider.

Betfair and Ladbrokes are both offering 4 places for each-way bets on this race.

Royal Mile Handicap

It could be a good day for Josephine Gordon at the Scottish track as we also like her mount in the Royal Mile Handicap, BREAKING RECORDS. He can improve for the extra furlong here and on his first start on the turf.

The big danger is AYUTTHAYA, who could prove to be a class above these. He won on heavy ground on his last start last season and could be hard to peg back from the front today.

Ladbrokes are offering 4 places for each-way bets on this race.
