Saturday Horse Racing Tips

There’s something for everyone on ITV this afternoon, with flat racing from Newbury and Newmarket and a welcome sighting of some summer jumpers at Market Rasen.

JLT Cup

The best race for punters to get stuck into at Newbury has a jump racing feel to it as well, as it is a staying handicap over two miles.

Pick of the market leaders could be the lightly raced QULOOB, who ran an eye catching race behind a few of these at Newmarket on his comeback last month. This step up in trip should suit and he has first time cheekpieces fitted to help him as well. Trainer Owen Burrows has sent out two winners from his last ten runners.

With Buzz likely to be a non-runner due to the ground, the big danger could be a horse that finished in front of Quloob at Newmarket, GOLDEN WOLF. This horse has been crying out for two miles and had no chance in the Old Newton Cup last time out after he missed the break at Haydock.

There are some interesting ones at fancy prices too, including Stars Over The Sea, who makes his debut for the excellent Ian Williams, KLOUD GATE and even rank outsider, Newlands.

Preference is for Kloud Gate who ran so well on his return to the level for Gary Moore recently. If he can handle this quick ground he is well treated on his best French form.

Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes

There is another massive field in the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes and it looks a hugely difficult puzzle to solve.

For those wanting a bet we’d suggest KINKS, who we tipped when he ran at Royal Ascot. He is well treated at the weights and should be in the mix if able to reproduce his best here.

Summer Handicap Hurdle

The first of two valuable prizes at Market Rasen is on offer to the hurdlers in the 188 Bet Summer Handicap at 2.05pm.

As you’d expect, there are plenty of in-form horses in the race, many of whom represent the hottest trainers around at present.

The one we like most is bottom weight, JE SUIS CHARLIE for whom this better ground could be key. He is a strong travelling sort who has run well on unsuitably soft ground over hurdles in the past. He bounced back to winning ways on decent ground recently and looks to have untapped potential for a handler that always has to be feared in these races.

The big danger is ARTFUL ARTIST, who is having only his third start for Richard Newland. The yard has had an incredible five winners from its last six runners and this is a race it has targeted successfully in the past. He may have more improvement in him than stablemate Hassle.

Summer Plate Handicap Chase

The chasers take centre stage in the Summer Plate and it is again worth following a yard that targets this valuable prize year after year. This time around, Peter Bowen has a new horse to aim at the contest as MORE BUCK’S is having only his second start for the trainer. He won impressively on his debut for Bowen and the form has been franked since.

For those looking for something at a bigger price, Dr Newland could be the man to follow again as SEEFOOD returns from a long absence on a very workable looking mark. He loves this decent ground.

Ladbrokes are offering 4 places for each-way bets on this race.
