Saturday Horse Racing Tips

It’s a big day for Nicky Henderson today both on and off the track.

The country’s leading trainer will actually be in Scotland getting married, whilst his support staff send out a host of runners the strength of which could easily see him take many of the day’s big prizes.

32Red Casino Chase

The televised action at Kempton kicks off with a listed chase where Josses Hill looks sure to be in the mix for the Seven Barrows handler, but at the weights we prefer GODS OWN, who would surely win this at a canter if back to his best. This is his time of year and the drying ground will be in his favour. This is his ideal trip too, so he has plenty in his favour as he looks to get back to winning ways.

Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle

Next up is the afternoon’s big betting heat, the Lanzarote Handicap. This time we think Henderson will come out on top and of his pair of runners we prefer the lightly raced and unexposed DIESE DES BIEFFES, who can improve markedly now upped in trip.

There are plenty of dangers like Le Patriote, Topofthegame and Coeur Blimey (if his jumping holds together), but of those at bigger prices we like DINO VELVET and MAN FROM MARS.

Alan King excels with handicap hurdlers and two promising runs this season should have put Dino Velvet spot on for this.

Man From Mars is narrowly preferred of the Nick Williams pair mainly due to the respective prices of his duo. He is a chaser in the making, but wouldn’t have had to improve much since last seen out to have a chance here off of a featherweight.

32Red Handicap Chase

The final race on ITV from the Sunbury circuit looks set to go the way of the favourite, FOUNTAINS WINDFALL.

We think he would have won for us in a grade 1 at Kempton last time out but for falling and compensation awaits here in an easier race. The weight concession to his rivals shouldn’t stop him.

Hampton Novices’ Chase

The action at Warwick kicks off with a novice chase, which can see FLINTHAM get off of the mark over the bigger obstacles. He probably needed his seasonal re-appearance and it is worth remembering that he was second in grade 2 at Ascot a little over a year ago. A repeat of that effort should be good enough here.

Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle

A Pertemps Qualifier follows and Fly Camp is a dark horse here for the Henderson camp, but a safer option may prove to be MALAPIE who sits at the foot of the weights.

Despite being ten years old, he is lightly raced for Caroline Bailey and really seems to have improved this season. He seems to stay all day and so wouldn’t want the ground to dry out too much.

Also interesting is TEMPLEROSS who didn’t seem to take to fences earlier in the season. He also disappointed over hurdles last time out, but he’s been off the track for seven weeks since that effort and Nigel Twiston-Davies will hopefully have sorted out any issues in that time.

Ladbrokes are offering 4 places for each-way bets on this race.

Ballymore Leamington Novices’ Hurdle

The Leamington Hurdle should provide Henderson with another winner as MR WHIPPED looks a really strong bet here. He’s unbeaten in three starts and a good point to point win proved his stamina for this sort of assignment.

If there is to be a shock then KNIGHT IN DUBAI can supply it. He too had decent point to point form, and improved significantly when upped in trip last time out.

Betfred Classic Handicap Chase

The concluding televised contest is arguably the best as plenty of good stayers are going to post for the Betfred Classic.

Kerry Lee excels in these races and of her trio we like the least exposed runner, KRACKATOA KING. Richard Patrick nearly stole the Welsh National for the yard last week and the trainer / jockey combination can go one better here.

The big danger could prove to be a horse that ran at Chepstow last weekend – ON THE ROAD. He unseated his rider early on that day, but that may prove a blessing as he should see out the trip better here on less testing ground.

Indian Castle, Topper Thornton and Goodtoknow are others to consider.
