Sunday Horse Racing Tips

There is live ITV4 coverage of the third and final day of the November meeting at Cheltenham on Sunday, including the feature Greatwood Hurdle.

Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle

Ground conditions changed dramatically at Cheltenham yesterday, which didn’t help some of our tips, but at least we know what we are dealing with today and we think the soft going could play to the strengths of WILLIAM H BONNEY in the Greatwood.

The feature race on today’s card lacks its usual numbers, but Bet365 offer 4 places and we think our selection should prove a solid each-way option on those terms.

He has won here before and goes well fresh. He is slightly out of the handicap (as are a few of these due to the presence of The New One at the top of the weights) but he has a very useful claimer on board to offset that.

The other one to back is PROJECT BLUEBOOK for a yard that excels with its handicap hurdlers. It is surprising to see this horse as big as he is in the betting as the formbook suggests he can beat some of those ahead of him in the market like Nietzsche and Flying Tiger.

Given that he’s only a four year old he should still be improving and his breeding suggests he’ll cope with the ground.

Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase

The first race on ITV today is a three runner novices chase at 1.50pm and we were impressed enough with NORTH HILL HARVEY last time out to suggest backing him against the favourite, River Wylde. His record over course and distance over hurdles and fences is a big plus.

Shloer Chase

The Shloer Chase is next where Fox Norton is bound to be popular. However, the unexposed horse is CLOUDY DREAM and it may turn out for the best that connections mixed up his entries and failed to get him a run in yesterday’s BetVictor Gold Cup.

The softening ground means his proven stamina over further than 2 miles could see him outstay some of these on the climb to the line.

Look out for a good run from Vaniteux too on his second start for the Pipes.

Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle

There’s a Supreme Trial Novices Hurdle to close the ITV programme at 3.30pm and we are massive fans of SLATE HOUSE. We think he could be a real superstar in the making. As long as he copes with the ground we think he can give weight to the morning favourite, Dame De Compagnie.

For anyone in need of a big priced winner at this stage it might be worth throwing a few quid at SUMMERVILLE BOY as he should improve massively from his debut effort at Stratford recently. A fast run race, stiffer test of stamina and softer ground should all help.
