Northern Ireland have a tough task ahead of them on Sunday in Basel, with Switzerland securing a 1-0 victory in the first leg at Windsor Park earlier this week.

Michael O’Neill’s side are always hard to break down – conceding just three goals in four games at Euro 2016 including a 1-0 defeat to Germany, and just six goals in ten qualifying games to reach the play-offs (with Germany accounting for five of those).

But they lost 1-0 to Germany, Poland and Wales at Euro 2016, as well as that defeat in Belfast on Thursday, and a repeat of that scoreline is 4/1 with Paddy Power.

This certainly looks likely to start as another cagey affair, however Northern Ireland will ultimately need to take some risks if the Swiss maintain or increase their advantage – which might well offer the Swiss opportunities on the counter-attack.

So, let’s start with a bet on the second-half being the ‘Highest Scoring Half’ at best odds of 13/10, plus Draw/Switzerland in the HT/FT market at best price 3/1.

Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri, whose shot led to the controversial penalty for the Swiss in Belfast, appeals at stand-out odds of 9/4 with BetVictor to score a goal here.
