Taylor 12/1 For Victorious Swansong

Phil Taylor will finally bring down the curtain on his magnificent darts career after the 2018 PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace, but bookmakers see World number 1 Michael Van Gerwen as the clear favourite to deny ‘The Power’ the perfect send-off.

Van Gerwen, who beat 2015 and 2016 champion Gary Anderson to claim his second title last year, is no bigger than 8/11 with sponsors William Hill, to make it three from five, with Anderson the only other man in single figures at 7/1 with BetVictor. Taylor dominated the sport for the best part of two decades, winning 16 PDC titles, but the most recent came in 2013 and he has won only one of the last seven, with his last appearance in the final coming against Anderson three years ago. William Hill and Coral both make him a 12/1 chance to bow out with a 17th world title and you can see him begin his bid when he takes on Chris Dobey live on Sky Sports this Friday.
