With only 16 games of the Premier League season gone, Betfred have joined Paddy Power in paying out on Manchester City to win the title following their 2-1 win over neighbours United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Paddy Power made the call earlier, settling bets on City prior to the weekend’s action, but a record-breaking 14th consecutive league win for Pep Guardiola’s side was enough to persuade United-supporting bookie Fred Done to follow suit. City’s fifth win in their last eight league visits to Old Trafford has put them 11 points clear at the top of the table on a weekend when the next four teams in the chase all dropped points, confounding punters and leaving the bookies quids in once again. In the race for the top four Tottenham were the major beneficiaries as they won for the first time in five league matches, beating Stoke 5-1 at Wembley to move back to within a point of Arsenal in fifth place. Spurs are now 6/4 with BetVictor to finish in the top four for the third successive season.
