The Premier League top four finish market promises to be one of the most competitive this season and there has already been plenty of movement after the first two rounds of matches, with Manchester United now odds-against with one bookmaker to qualify for next season’s Champions League following their surprise 3-2 defeat at Brighton.
Jose Mourinho’s side were unconvincing in their 2-1 win over Leicester on the opening weekend and that trend continued as they conceded three first half goals at the Amex Stadium, persuading Betfred to push them out to 11/10* to earn a top four finish. Most firms agree that Manchester City and Liverpool are near certainties to finish in the top four, but the other two places are very much up for grabs, with Tottenham the third favourites, in from 4/5 to a best price of 4/7* with Bet365 after earning their second victory when they beat Fulham 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday.
Arsenal suffered their second successive defeat, going down 3-2 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and just as they were last season they are the most vulnerable to finishing outside the top six. Everton, who invested heavily in the summer and who have taken four points from their first two matches, are a best price of 4/1* with Coral to finish in the top six.
