Manchester United are in danger of failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League after losing further ground when they were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace.
The Eagles had the better of the chances at Old Trafford, but were unable to convert any of them for what would have been a famous win over Jose Mourinho’s side.
United’s Portuguese coach had noted in his pre-match press conference that he expects his side to be in the top four by the turn of the year, but they are now seven points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea and six behind Arsenal in fifth.
The bookmakers rate them as outsiders to finish the season in the Champions League qualification places, with BetVictor currently offering the best odds of 9/2.*
They have an opportunity to make up some lost ground next weekend if they can beat Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday evening, before Arsenal and Spurs meet at the Emirates on Sunday. United then have a midweek home game against the Gunners on December 5th.
