Sebastian Vettel has been cut to a best price of 2/1 with Bet365 to win the F1 Drivers’ Championship after holding off the challenge of Valtteri Bottas to win the Bahrain Grand Prix and make it back-to-back victories at the start of the 21-race season.
With Vettel clinging on over the last 10 laps of the race with tyres that were ‘done’, Bottas was able to close a five-second gap to be on the German’s tail going into the final lap, but he was unable to pass and Vettel took the chequered flag with whoops of delight. The Ferrari driver now holds a 17-point lead over Lewis Hamilton, but with so much of the season still to come the defending champion remains the clear favourite for a fifth world title, at best odds of 4/6 with Ladbrokes and William Hill. Hamilton, who began down in ninth place, was able to recover to finish third.
