At the start of the season Cardiff City were 9/1 with William Hill to win promotion to the Premier League, but they approach the final weekend of the season at best odds of just 1/6 after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Hull.
Two goals from defender Sean Morrison put the Bluebirds back up into second place, one point above Fulham, and in sight of a return to the top flight after a four-year absence. Few would argue that Neil Warnock’s side are as easy on the eye as the Cottagers, but they are certainly effective and they will be strongly fancied to get the job done at home to Reading, who are still in danger of relegation if other results go against them. To add to the intrigue, Fulham go to Birmingham, whose season could also end in relegation if they lose and any two of Barnsley, Burton and Bolton win.
Promotion would be a record eighth of Warnock’s career and his third to the Premier League.
