Weekend Premier League Tips

We preview the four televised Premier League games this weekend and have tips for each below, along with the best odds available.

Leicester v Newcastle

bt-sport1 Saturday 2nd May / 12.45pm

The Foxes have been playing well of late and were unlucky to lose 3-1 to Chelsea on Wednesday night. They take on a Magpies side who are really struggling at present and the first bet must be on Leicester to win at best odds of 19/20 with Ladbrokes.

This really does look like a maximum bet – Newcastle have lost seven consecutive league games and have gone six hours 48 minutes without scoring a goal away from home, while Leicester have picked up 12 points in their last five league games –  only Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton have won more (13 pts) during this time.

This game could be a low scoring affair, especially with Papiss Cisse missing through suspension, and we suggest backing a 0-0 score line at half time at 2/1 with Bet365, while the Under 2.5 Goals bet at 37/40 with BetVictor also looks a solid proposition.

Manchester United v West Brom

SkySports1 Saturday 2nd May / 5.30pm

West Brom9/1Bet365

United were soundly beaten at Goodison Park by Everton last weekend – the second consecutive league game where they have failed to score. But you would expect them to find the net and beat a West Brom side that has failed to score in 10 of their last 13 visits to Old Trafford.

It is interesting to note that the Baggies have been caught napping early on in their games this season. They have conceded no less than 11 goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches and we can see the hosts scoring early here – you can back United to be leading at the 30th minute mark at odds of 11/8 with William Hill.

The Baggies have only won three away games this season, scoring just 11 goals – that is the lowest number of away goals of any side in the Premier League and so we also suggest backing United to win this game to nil at best odds of 5/4 with Sky Bet.

As far as Correct Score bets are concerned, we like the 2-0 home win at 6/1 and the 3-0 home win at 17/2 – both with Bet365, who refund losing Correct Score bets on all games that finish 0-0.

Wayne Rooney has scored in each of his last six league starts against West Brom and is too big a price at 19/5 with Stan James to score the first goal – he has 15 goals in his last 16 Premier League games at Old Trafford.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

SkySports1 Sunday 3rd May / 1.30pm

A win on Sunday will give Chelsea the title and there seems little likelihood of Crystal Palace spoiling the party at Stamford Bridge.

Games are won by strikers, but titles are won by defences and Chelsea have managed to keep 16 clean sheets this season, while Palace have actually had the fewest (6) clean sheets.

With that in mind, we like the look of Chelsea winning to nil here at 23/20 with BetVictor, while the 2-0 (6/1 BetVictor) and the 3-0 (17/2 BetVictor) home wins should also be backed – nine of Chelsea’s 16 home league games this season have been won by one of those two scorelines.

Finally, Eden Hazard will be on cloud nine having just been voted the Players Player of the Year and he can be backed each-way at 9/2 to score first with Bet365.

Tottenham v Manchester City

SkySports1 Sunday 3rd May / 4pm

Manchester City11/10BetVictor

Manuel Pellegrini will need no reminding that his stars have lost their last four league games on the road, but City have twice won 5-1 in their last 3 visits to White Hart Lane (you can get odds of 90/1 with BetVictor on that happening again).

This certainly looks likely to be another high scoring match – there have been no less than 35 goals scored in the last 7 games between these clubs – an average of 5 goals per game.

So, we suggest backing Over 2.5 Goals at best odds of 3/5 with BetVictor and also Both Teams To Score at 4/7 with Ladbrokes – that has happened in 6 of those last 7 games, plus Tottenham have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 league games.

Given City’s current struggles on the road, we also recommend a speculative bet on the 2-1 Spurs win at 14/1 with Bet365.

We don’t usually suggest Last Goalscorer bets, but no player in the league has scored more winning (last) goals than Christian Eriksen (7) this season and he is overpriced at 10/1 with Ladbrokes to score last.

We also suggest backing Sergio Aguero to score first each way at 15/4 with Bet365 – as he has scored nine goals in six Premier League appearances against Spurs.
