Arsene Wenger heads the betting to become the new manager of Real Madrid following the shock departure of Zinedine Zidane last week. Zidane left the Spanish giants just five days after leading them to their fourth Champions League crown in five years and the third on his watch.
Wenger, a free agent after leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, is a best price of 3/1 with Ladbrokes as of Sunday evening, but rumours emerged over the weekend that Real may prefer a bid to prise Jurgen Klopp away from Liverpool. Bosses at the Madrid club will certainly have been impressed with the way Klopp took Liverpool to the final of the Champions League with such attacking verve, while they have suffered at his hands in the past when his Dortmund side knocked them out at the semi-final stage in 2013. Klopp is in to a best price of 16/1 from 33/1 with Ladbrokes.
Other leading contenders include the former Real midfielder Guti, who is currently coaching in the club’s youth set-up, Mauricio Pocchetino, Antonio Conte and the departing Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri.
