Boxing fans still have a couple of weeks to wait before they get their next chance to see Anthony Joshua in action, but there is a decent warm-up offering on Sky Sports this Saturday night as Dillian Whyte takes another step on the road towards a potential world title fight as he meets Lucas Browne at the O2 Arena.
Whyte, who has won six times since suffering his first professional defeat against Joshua in 2015, is a best price of 4/11 with Ladbrokes to win his grudge match with Browne and believes his improved preparation makes him a good bet to get back to the top. As well as undergoing surgery for a shoulder problem, Whyte told Sky Sports that he has benefitted from training at the elite facilities on offer at Loughborough University instead of alone in the gym in London, while he believes his healthier lifestyle has made him a leaner athlete with greater stamina to get through gruelling 12-round heavyweight contests.
With a record of 25 wins and no defeats, Browne has proved over a long career that he should be taken seriously, and there’s every chance that this could go the distance. Whyte is 6/5 with Paddy Power to win by decision.
