Woods Backed After Beating McIlroy

Tiger Woods continues to be well backed to win The Masters following his victory over Rory McIlroy at the WGC World Match Play event in Texas.

The 14-time major winner was eventually beaten by Lucas Bjerregaard of Denmark in Saturday’s second knockout stage, but not before catching the eye with a ruthless performance to dispose of the in-form McIlroy, winner of the recent Players Championship.

The Irishman remains the favourite to win what has so far proved to be the only major title to elude him, at best odds of 7/1* with BetVictor.

However, Woods is not far behind in a crowded betting market. William Hill and Betfred have trimmed his odds to 12/1, but you can still get 14/1* with Bet365.

Woods has won the Masters four times, but his most recent Green Jacket came back in 2005. Last season he signalled that he had regained his competitive edge in the majors by finishing sixth at The Open and second at the PGA Championship.
