Venue

The TPC Louisiana Course hosts the Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2016 and its stadium design means the spectators are right on top of the action. It’s not just the grandstands that the players must plot their way around, with five ponds and more than 100 bunkers providing the most significant challenges. The signature hole is the par-five 18th, which has water in play down its entire right hand side. Three major champions – Justin Rose, Jason Dufner and Bubba Watson – have won here in the last five years with other recent winners including Noh Seung-yul and Billy Horschel.

Favourites

Jason Day is the only member of the world’s top three in attendance this week and the Australian is the 11/2 favourite with BetVictor and Coral, just ahead of defending champion Rose at 8/1 with most firms. Rickie Fowler is available at 12/1 with 2013 winner Horschel, who has been playing well of late, a 22/1 chance with Betfred and Paddy Power. Charley Hoffman won the Valero Texas Open at the weekend and can be backed at a standout price of 25/1 with Stan James.

Tips

CAMERON-TRINGALECAMERON TRINGALE was second in the Shriners event early in the season but has struggled to get his game going since the turn of the year. However, after making the cut at his last three events he appears to be on the right track and his record at this venue is better than most, with his results in six appearances reading (most recent first): 2-17-MC-7-18-28. He is certainly an interesting betting prospect at the stand-out 60/1 with Betfred.

Daniel-BergerEarlier in the year we mentioned DANIEL BERGER as a player to watch this season and although he has played well in fits and starts, he didn’t truly catch the eye until his two most recent outings, when he finished fifth in Houston followed by 10th at the Masters. The 23-year-old made his debut at TPC Louisiana last year, shooting four sub 70 rounds on his way to a share of sixth place. Paddy Power offer 28/1 and are paying 7 places.

Charles HowellCHARLES HOWELL is currently 26th on the FedEx Cup and has had some near misses at New Orleans in the past. A runner-up here in both 2006 and 2009, Howell is on course for his best season on the PGA Tour in five years, finishing in the top 25 at 11 of his 15 events this season and getting into the top 10 at four of them, so there is every reason to assume that he will be confident here. BetVictor‘s price of 60/1 is too tempting to miss.
