Sportingbet was founded in 1998, is part of the GVC Holdings group of companies and regulated in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar.
Sportingbet is one the oldest and most established online bookmakers and has been in operation from the early days of internet betting. The company is owned by GVC Holdings who also have the Ladbrokes Coral Group in their portfolio. Ladbrokes and Coral have licenced betting offices in the UK but Sportingbet only have an online presence. The gaming website also features a casino, games and poker.
In keeping with competitors’ offers Sportingbet provides a range of concessions and bonuses for new and existing customers. The welcome offers are subject to specific Terms and Conditions that involve placing qualifying bets in line with guidelines from the Gambling Commission. Sportingbet caters for existing customers with a range of promotions that or sport and event specific. The reputation of the group is important which means any offers have to be fair, transparent and achievable. GVC Holdings employs over 2,800 people and holds licences in 18 countries.
Sports Betting is the first option on the main menu on the Home Page. The main sports page displays highlights and favourites and a list of about 50 sports. This list is not in alphabetical order but appears to be in order of the most popular betting sports. A number of sports also appear on the horizontal menu so it’s safe to assume that the most popular with Sportingbet are football, horse racing, tennis cricket and basketball.
Football accounts for the majority of sports bets and the most bet on league is the English Premier League. The three way match results are displayed for each fixture with a link to the related markets of which there are almost 200. These betting options appear under the following headings:
Sportingbet also offers a number of additional Special bets for each match. The betting margins are relatively high, especially for football which suggests Sportingbet do not compete on their odds but reputation and branding.
After the Premier League and horse racing the next highlight listed is tennis coupons. Customers can bet on matches from the ATP and WTA tours. Each coupon only lists the odds to win the match and first set but more markets are available elsewhere. Basketball and rugby union also appear but the options change depending on the upcoming major events even though the Premier League stays at the top of the list.
Sportingbet provides several features that enhance the betting experience. The comprehensive sportsbook offers many events for pre-match and live betting. Additional features include Livescore, Statistics and Results. The operator has a Twitter fed and Facebook account which allows the company to pass on information and promote the offers and odds through social media channels. Customers can bet on virtual football, horse racing, greyhounds, speedway and trotting. The live casino offers a betting experience that is akin to what can be enjoyed in a physical casino.
Customers must open an account before downloading the Sportingbet app from the mobile site. The file installation procedure is quick and easy to follow. The Sportingbet app is functional and the same login in details can be used on the mobile site and desktop version. The app replicates the website which means over 50 betting sports and concessions for new and existing customers. The Sportingbet app is available for iOS devices here and Android devices here and the features are identical for both types of software. Signing up and creating an account is a simple process.
Live Betting is the second option on the main horizontal menu on the Home Page. In selecting this menu choice customers are taken to the Live Betting page which displays the live events under the headings of Overview, Event View, Multi View and Calendar. The main market for each live event is shown with a link to related markets. The odds do not offer the best value but the differences are small.
For matches in the English Premier League the markets appear under the headings of main, handicaps, correct score and goals. Odds are available until the end of each event, depending on whether there are outstanding issues. Events in several sports can be viewed using live streaming or in animation. In football this involves the movement of the ball and the team in possession.
Bets can be cashed out before expiry to guarantee a profit or take a loss, depending on the match position and odds. Sportingbet allows customers to take control of their bets but the payout odds are adjusted accordingly. In fact the best value can be secured by letting bets stand until the event has finished but cash out provides insurance against the event going against the customer and the odds working in favour of the bookie.
Customers with Sportingbet have access to a detailed Help facility. The section includes general information and guidance in each area of the site’s operation. The Help facility comes in the form of the most common questions and the section is comprehensive. There could be other issues in which case customers can contact Sportingbet by email form and telephone. The support department is open from 9am to 9pm GMT Monday to Sunday every day of the year. Sportingbet is committed to responsible gambling measures and displays banner links to support bodies.
Sportingbet have become a recognized brand in a competitive market dominated by the traditional UK betting brands and internet only operators such as bet365 and Skybet. Both these British companies invest in marketing and advertising and have become highly trusted. Sportingbet provide an excellent sports betting experience, probably with a smaller budget and marketing reach. Despite the odds not being the best, the differences are marginal and the range of sports is exceptional.
Finally, it is encouraged for all players to play responsibly. In case there are any concerns, there is plenty of information to be found about responsible online gaming here.
It's one of those betting sites that try to compete with the big boys, but don't really have the resources. Although they try to throw some decent offers at you from time to time, it's hard to do anything there with very limited betting markets and odds that don't compete with other sites. I mostly bet on tennis and even on some of the bigger tournaments you would find that there are some games missing and if you find the game you want, but it's a specific market you are looking after, you might soon realize that they wont have it. i often compare odds across different betting sites and sportingbet is always somewhere far back with some lesser known sites. The whole web page is a bit slow and heavy too. Takes some time to lead things and it can get frustrating. Even their app is just the website transformed into an app. It's even worse to use that one.
The only reason to bet with them is to collect some of the offers they give from time to time and make the best out of them. If you can find your bets and are happy with the odds then who knows - maybe you will enjoy playing there.
Can't say much about slots, games and other stuff on that site as I mostly used it for betting unless and offer required me to play some games in order to wager winnings.
Anyway, I never had any technical issues or problems contacting support. All my questions were answered and resolved in matter of minutes and I can't say anything bad about their customer support. All deposits and withdraws went smooth
