European Under 21 Championship Betting Offers

The European Under-21  Championship is already causing a stir within football circles because fans of the sport can’t wait any longer for the action to start. In case you didn’t know, the event, this year will be the 22nd instalment of the U-21 European Championship, and it will take place between 16th and 30th June. It is by far the most exceptional international youth football tournament arranged for the under 21 European national teams, every two years since 1972.

European Under 21

2019’s European under 21 Championship will be taking place in San Marino Italy home to one of the most promising football players across the globe. Since the Euro U21 championship started, 12 teams have been competing against each other with a strict age restriction of below 21 years old. This time, only the players who were born after January 1996 will be eligible.

A Highlight of the 2017 European under 21 Championship

Well, since the event takes place every two years, the last time the competition took place was in 2017. 12 qualified teams kicked off in the group stages of the Euro under 21 Championship in Poland, and at the end of it all, Germany ended up winning the title. However, it was not an easy feat for them as each team came equally prepared ready to outdo one another.

The 2017 European Under-21 Championship was staged from 16th to 30th June, and all the teams that participated were split into three groups. In the said group stages, each group consisted of four teams and like in many sports event, each pool winners and their runners-up qualified for the semi-finals. For tight back to back matches, here is how the teams were grouped:

Group A: Slovakia, England, Sweden, and Poland
Group B: Portugal, Spain, FYR Macedonia and Serbia
Group C: Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, and Italy

Eventually, England, Spain, Italy, and Germany proceeded to the next stage. Italy and Spain were then knocked out, and finally, the Germans were the ones who prevailed after beating Spain by 1 goal to none.
To date, Italy has been the most successful team with 6 titles at hand followed by Germany which was crowned for the second time following their 2017 victory.

European Under 21 Championship

As is the norm, all the fifty-five nations threw their hats in the ring from initial group stages, with this year’s hosts Italy, grabbing a spot for automatic qualification. This left 11 spots which were contested for in games that took place in two qualifying rounds between May of 2017 and last year (2018) November.

After a qualification stage of home and away matches in a round-robin format across nine qualification groups, the remaining eleven spots were scooped by 9 group winners (Spain, France, England, Serbia, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Belgium, Romania and two play-off winners (Poland and Austria). At the launch of the event which is on 17th June, these teams will be going against each other, currently being grouped as indicated below:

Group A: Italy, Poland, Belgium, Spain
Group B: Germany, Austria, Serbia, Denmark,
Group C: England, Croatia, Romania, France

The teams will face off against each other in the group stages, and in each group, the winners will proceed to the knockout stage, which is often filled with tension and lots of entertaining action.

Semi-Finals & Finals

The Semi-Finals will take place on Thursday 27th June, and it will be between:
Germany U21 vs. Romania U21
Spain U21 vs. France U21
