All you need to know about the race

Royal Ascot Betting Offers

Royal Ascot betting offers are gaining more and more popularity as the race approaches. Royal Ascot is the most valuable race meeting in the UK with over £8.65 million in prize money (£7.3 million in 2019).

During the five-day festival, eyes are on the races and attendees too. Every year the event is attended by members of the British Royal Family, including Elizabeth II herself. The third day, which is always Thursday, is considered to be the main day of the festival since it features the Ascot Gold Cup.

If we take into account the importance and popularity of the event, we can see why the majority of UK online bookmakers try to provide the best Royal Ascot betting offers to their clients. Continue to read our article and see what to expect from this year’s event.

Further down the page, you’ll also find some information on previous winners, historical records, betting markets and promotions, etc. Here’s a look at some important facts that will help you understand the principle of Royal Ascot Queen Anne enclosure.

Royal Ascot Format

As we have said, the Royal Ascot is a crucial event in the British social calendar. During the five-day meeting, over 300,000 people attend the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. That’s actually the most-attended race meeting in the whole Europe with omnipresent press coverage. Usually, the press is often more focused on the attendees and their styling than on the actual racing.

However, the Royal Ascot week is a real treat for all horse racing fans. There are 18 group races, with at least one Groupe One event that takes place each of the five days. The Ascot Gold Cup is on Thursday. This year the race is held from Tuesday 14th June until Saturday 18th 2022.

Day One

The first day of the meeting is definitely unmissable since it sets the benchmark for the whole event. There are three Group One races. The first is the Queen Anne Stakes, named after the founder. The second is the King’s Stand Stakes, and lastly the St James’s Palace Stakes that usually features horses that run in the English, French and Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Here’s the schedule of the races for Royal Ascot day one, on Tuesday, 14th June 2022.

Time Race Grade Distance
2:30 Queen Anne Stakes Group 1 1m
3:05 Coventry Stakes Group 2 6f
3:40 King’s Stand Stakes Group 1 5f
4:20 St James’s Palace Stakes Group 1 1m
5:00 Ascot Stakes Handicap 2m4f
5:35 Wolferton Stakes Listed 1m2f
6:10 Copper Horse Stakes Handicap 1m6f

Day Two

The highlight from day two is the Prince of Wales’s Stake. This race dates back to 1862 and it’s still widely popular. However, there are many different races the bookmakers will offer attractive Royal Ascot betting offers for. Before and during the festival, it is possible to find Royal Ascot free bets, a way for the bookmakers to attract more customers.

Day Three

The third day is the day of the historic Gold Cup. This year it’s on Thursday 16th June. The Gold Cup is UK’s most important race for horses that run over a long distance, so-called stayers. The race is run over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs and dating back to 1807, it’s the oldest surviving race of the festival.

The third day is unofficially also known as ladies day and it’s the highlight of the Royal Ascot. The Gold Cup Stakes will start at 4:20. However, there are some other interesting races as well, so make sure to check for special Royal Ascot betting offers.

Day Four

The Gold Cup might be over, but the high class flat racing continues apace. On the fourth day, you can find two more Group One races and other top events.

The Coronation Stakes is definitely the pinnacle of the day. The race is run over 1 mile and it’s open to 3-year-old fillies. Make sure you don’t miss it!

Day Five

The final day is marked by the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. That’s the final Group One race for the festival. It’s one of the world’s greatest international sprint races open to four years and older horses.

Check the schedule for the fifth day and enjoy following the races!

Brief Summary of the Royal Ascot’s History

Ascot was founded by Queen Anne in 1711. It’s the queen that chose the area of today’s Ascot Racecourse for her horses to be able to “gallop at full stretch”. The first race was called Her Majesty’s Plate and 7 horses participated in it. They were English Hunters rather than the thoroughbreds like today.

The name of the first winner is not known. However, in honour of Queen Anne, the first race of the first day is always Queen Anne Stakes. Nowadays, the Ascot Racecourse hosts 13 of UK’s 36 annual Group One horse races and it stages 26 days of racing each year including 18 flat meetings that are held from May to October. The Royal Ascot remains a major event.
