The National Football League, or the NFL is comprised of two conferences: the American Football Conference, or AFC, and the National Football Conference, the NFC. Each of these conferences has 16 teams. The teams in each conference are further divided into 4 divisions: East, North, South, West.

After the regular season, it continues with the Wild Card round which includes the divisional teams, except the 2 top-ranking teams, which go straight into the divisional round.

Afterwards, the Conference Championships are held, where the winners from the divisional round face each other in order to determine the AFC and NFC champions. Once the Conference Championships are played, the winners will proceed to the Super Bowl. That’s actually the first time that teams from both conferences meet, at the NFL Final game, the Super Bowl.

During the playoffs, the higher seed has the home-field advantage, as they are always the hosts. But the Super Bowl is always played at a neutral location.
