Looking for Cheltenham betting offers? Look no further!

Cheltenham betting offers are here to make your betting experience even more interesting. The four extraordinary days are coming up next year,  the most important jump racing event will take place from Tuesday 15th March, 2022,  until Friday 18th of March, 2022.

The Cheltenham Festival is a real treat each year for all those who admire horse racing – and often billed as ‘the Olympics of jumps racing’ even though it’s held every year! The finest jockeys, horses, trainers, and owners – mainly from the UK, Ireland and France – gather together for the big prize money and the greatest racing honours.

What should we expect from next year’s meeting and where to look for the best Cheltenham betting offers? Continue to read our review and discover. However, first of all, let’s remind ourselves of the Cheltenham’s structure.

Cheltenham Format

As we have already said, Cheltenham is a four-day horse racing festival. The number and types of races at the festival have changed over the years. In the beginning, the meeting lasted for two days, then it grew to three, and finally four. This year you will be able to follow 28 different races split up over 4 days (7 races each day).

The opening day of the festival is known as Champion Day, and it reunites participants from all around the world. Next year, Day One is on Tuesday 15th March 2022. The Unibet Champion Hurdle is one of the most notable races of the first day. It’s open to horses aged 4 years or more. Since the biggest sponsor of the race is the popular online gambling operator Unibet, the race has changed its name to Unibet Champion Hurdle. The distance of the race is around 2 miles and a ½ furlong, and there are 8 hurdles. Make sure not to miss out – last year we saw the Rachael Blackmore and Henry de Bromhead combine to win the Champion Hurdle with Honeysuckle. The same jockey and trainer would come together less than a month later to win the 2021 Grand National.

Day Two, which takes place on Wednesday 16th March 2022, and it also guarantees you first-class jumps racing. Billed as Ladies’ Day, the Queen Mother Champion Chase is the day two feature. The steeplechase race is open to horses that are at least 5 years old. The sponsor of the race is currently the online betting company Betway. The distance is about 2 miles, and the racecourse includes 12 fences – quite a challenge for the horses and their jockeys.

We saw the Henry de Bromhead-trained Put The Kettle On win the race in 2021 and it’s expected to line-up again in 2022. The likes of Shishkin and Energumene are others that could head to this race.

Day Three of the Festival is 17th March 2022. The most significant race is the Stayer’s Hurdle intended for the horses aged 4 and over and the Ryanair Chase. The Stayers’ Hurdle is run over a distance of around 3 miles with 12 hurdles to be jumped. In 2020 the Stayers’ Hurdle saw a shock winner as the 50/1 shot – Lisnagar Oscar – win the prize, with the 2019 champion – Paisley Park – unplaced. Paisley Park entered again in 2021, but this time came home third, behind the 12/1 Flooring Porter.

The Ryanair Chase was won in 2021 by the talented Allaho, for trainer Willie Mullins. He’s sure to be back in 2022 to defend his title.

Cheltenham Gold Cup

Every day brings some new surprises and additional excitement, but finally, the pinnacle of the festival arrives – Day Four is also known as Gold Cup Day. The Cheltenham Gold Cup race is one of the most prestigious National Hunt races and it’s run over a distance of 3 miles and 2 ½ furlongs. The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a real performance and strength test. It includes 22 fences and is open to horses aged 5 or more.

The Willie Mullins-trained Al Boum Photo won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in both 2019 and 2020, but came up short in his quest for a three-peat. He finished third in 2021, behind the Henry de Bromhead duo of Minella Indo and A Plus Tard. The top three from 2021 are all expected to renew their rivalry in the 2022 Cheltenham Gold Cup, alongside last year’s National Hunt Chase winner, Galvin.

History

The beginnings of Cheltenham Festival go back to 1860 when the National Hunt Chase was held for the first time. In 1861 the event took place at Cheltenham. Otherwise, it was taking places at different locations until 1911 when the meeting was returned to Cheltenham where it remained to the present day.

The Stayer’s Hurdle is the oldest race from the festival that still exists. It was run first in 1912, while the Gold Cup is being run ever since 1924. In the beginning, the festival was a two-day meeting, and until recently it lasted for three days. After the introduction of the fourth day, many new races are introduced, and one race has been chosen as the championship race of the day. Tuesday sees the Champion Hurdle as the main race, Wednesday has the Champion Chase as it’s feature, while Thursday’s showcase event is the Ryanair Chase and not the Stayers’ Hurdle as some people think. Then on the Friday, the meeting is concluded with the Cheltenham Gold Cup as the main contest.
