Discover all the important details regarding the ATP betting offers right here
ATP betting offers are highly popular since the ATP Finals are the season-ending championships of the ATP Tour. The tournament is held each year after the four Grand Slam, at the end of a long season, in November at the O2 Arena in London.
It reunites the top eight singles players and doubles teams of the ATP Rankings. With prize money in the millions and the eight highest ranking men’s players, the event is unmissable for all tennis fans.
The online sportsbooks are quite busy during this week-long high profile tennis event, and most of them are trying to provide the best ATP betting offers to both new and existing punters. Let’s see where to look for them, but first of all, let’s remind ourselves of all the reasons why this tournament is one of the most important in the world of tennis.
The ATP Finals has a round-robin format, meaning that each participant meets all other participants. Eight players and eight teams are divided into 2 different groups of four. Once the round-robin part is over, the best two players from each side enter the semi-finals, and the winners participate in the finals.
That kind of format didn’t exist from the beginning. The ATP Finals was first held in 1970 as a round-robin tournament, but it didn’t include the semi-finals and finals. It was also known under a different name. A few years during the 80s the competition had a knockout format before it expanded to sixteen players in 1985.
According to the current format of the tournament, winners are awarded up to 1500 ranking points. Furthermore, the tournaments that offer so many ranking points also offer a lot of prize money. That’s why the best players try to enter the ATP Finals since it gives them a chance to gain a lot of points and valuable prizes. For all these reasons the tournament is pretty often considered to be the Fifth Major, besides the Four Grand slams. However, it’s not officially counted as one.
If we take into account the importance of the tournament, you can see why the online bookmakers are competing among themselves to provide attractive ATP betting offers to their users.
With six wins so far, Roger Federer holds the record for the most successful winner. Last time he won the tournament was in 2011, and he has appeared 15 times in the tournament. Only Andre Agassi can compete with the number of times Federer has participated in the ATP Finals since Agassi has appeared 13 times. With 5 wins in total, Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras, and Novak Djokovic are the next closest when it comes to the number of winnings.
When it comes to the Doubles, Peter Fleming and John McEnroe are the most successful partnership at the tournament, since they have 7 wins in total. Next on the list are the Bryan brothers, with four wins. Daniel Nestor also won the ATP Finals 4 times, but with different partners.
The following table presents previous and notable winners of the past few years:
|2018||Alexander Zverev||Novak Djokovic||6-4 | 6-3|
|2017||Grigor Dimitrov||David Goffin||7-5 | 4-6| 6-3|

The history of the ATP Finals goes back in 1970 when the championship was held for the first time. At that time, it was known as the Masters Grand Prix. The Masters was an event for the season closing. Only the best players of the men’s tour participated, but it didn’t count for any ranking points.
In 1990 the championship became known as ATP Tour World Championship. The ranking points were introduced, and the player that wouldn’t lose a single match would get the same number of points as he would for winning one of the four Majors. Also that year the ATP Tour World Championship became the organisational responsibility of the ATP.
Since the International Tennis Federation (ITS) lost control over this tournament, they created a new one as a rival. That was the Grand Slam Cup. As a result, the best players were split between the two events and both of them didn’t have prestige nor respect.
Eventually, the ITS and ATP decided to join their forces and create a unique competition out of these two that was called the Tennis Masters Cup. In 2009, it turned into the ATP World Tour Finals. Finally, in 2017 the World Tour was dropped, and the tournament became simply the ATP Finals.
